When I switched to the public beta of iOS 18, I did a backup and restore. Ever since then, I have been unable to add one of my debit cards back to my Wallet. All other banks have been added. I contacted the bank and they said there was no issue with my card.

I've submitted a Feedback to Apple but I don't know if this is an issue with iOS 18 public beta, iOS in general, my bank, or something else.

I did notice that if I request a new card, it comes with tap to pay. My current card does not have this. Could this be part of the issue? Any suggestions on where else to ask?

I vaguely remembering this exact issue happening to a credit card I had a while back. I believe I fixed it by completely removing the card (so it doesn't show in previously added cards section) and then adding it as new again, or just adding it as new and not in the previous card section. Can't remember for sure but do I remember I had to do it myself on the device.

I submitted another help request to the bank and was told to get with Apple. I’ll work on that I guess.

I had the same problem with a debit card in the past after moving between countries. I had to add it as Apple Pay option first. I never actually found exactly the reason for this - I went trough a bunch of things like getting a new card issued, checking on each reconnect with the bank whether „have you activated the card?“, talks to the backend people, Apple, and what not - at some point I tried netto add it „directly“ but under Apple Pay. That did the trick.

As far as I invested to trace this down: I had a billing address in in one country in my iCloud settings, and the card was issued after I moved from a bank in another country - and for some reason that caused problems for this particular card. As for you, only there. Any other card could be added, the card itself worked with Amazon&Co when used „directly“.

I checked my Apple Watch wallet and it showed that card in there but said it was unable to add it. I removed it and I'll see if that helps. It could be that the bank just doesn't support ApplePay anymore but I think it still mentions it in the help section.

Hello there. Glad to have found this forum about this topic, you are def not alone same thing has happened to me but I cant add any of my cards at all to my phone. its so weird they all add fine to my beta testing Watch but cant to my iPhone 15 pro. I have also did everything I could with apple and my bank, My bank even took two days to analyze the problem and they all have said that the card adds fine but once it reaches apple, apple changed the 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 and then get declined. the bank has said there is nothing that they can do anymore and only Apple can step in and fix it. The thing is that Apple has told me they also cant do anything so now im stuck in limbo. hopefully my feedback from the beta gets back with some good news.

Here's an update...

I sent in an inquiry to the debit card bank. They said they do not guarantee downloading of transactions and to contact ApplePay. I called ApplePay and was told I need to contact the bank or PNO since everything looked good on their end.

So this time I called the bank so they could help with troubleshooting. They looked around and said they dropped support back in April. That's before when I did the backup and restore so maybe they let me use it until I cleared it off. They said they have had customers call about this and have relayed their concerns.

This happened to me as well. It worked on my iPad and watch but not my phone. I went back and forth for months with the bank and Apple and escalated and escalated with no viable answers or solutions.

Months later I noticed that I was still being charged for apple care on my previous iPhone. I called Apple and (after a few transfers through a few departments) I was told the tech who swapped my device at the store when I traded in last fall didn't disconnect it from my Apple account properly. They fixed it THEN I remembered on one of my calls to the bank early on they asked if I ever had a device stolen, and mentioned some other things that made me think this may fix the banking problem. I waited 24 hours and then tried to add the card and it worked!

Try calling Apple and asking them to check that all of your previous devices are fully removed from your account and from your apple care.

I once had the same issue when I upgraded to iOS 17. I tried everything, wiped the phone and reset as new. Unfortunately, the only thing that helped was to wait - at some point it randomly worked…good luck!!!
