I upgraded to 10.8 (and was stupid enough to have it as my sole OS) and it's been very buggy. I can't log in, as when I do, the computer just gets "stuck".

I tried going into recovery mode dozens of times (so I can reformat/restore), but it won't work. Other startup commands work, but Command+R doesn't do anything. I was able to change the PVRAM, though.

You should be posting the question on the Apple developer forum for developers using Mountain Lion. There might be issues not evident to non-developers.

Command+R initiates internet recovery. I used it successfully today to repair a disk. It took at least 20 minutes to bring-up the recovery console, but it did work, although appears to be a work in progress.
