Unable to create new Apple ID

I've got my own Apple ID that I've used for years and everyone in the house uses my ID on their devices to play music via my iTunes account.
This means that my playlists get clogged up with everyone else's and it's getting very cluttered.
So I've decided to create separate ID's for everyone and keep everything cleaner, from music to photo's etc.
I started with my eldest girls email and when I try and create the ID I'm getting the message that it is unable to create the ID with this email.
I've double checked that there isn't an existing account using this email address and there is no ID matching the info provided.
I don't really want to create a new email address so was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar issue that can help me out.

2. What’s the method you’re using for creation of Apple ID?

Do the “make an Apple ID for a child” method and it will give them an @icloud.com Apple ID
