i've tried everything under the sun to try to downgrade from ios 9.1 to 9.02.. I've downloaded the IPSW file multiple times. Tried in DFU mode, deleted itunes and re-downloaded it, and completely wiped phone back to stock and still keep getting

"the iphone could not be restored because the firmware is not compatable."

using windows 10
itunes 12.3.1
iphone 6 plus
downloaded this- iPhone7,1_9.0.2_13A452_Restore.ipsw

any help would be appreciated

It's definitely the correct IPSW for the 6+ (there will be a 9.0.2 version for each model)?

There only seems to be only 1 version of the iphone 6 plus and itunes says its name is iphone 7,1

I meant make sure you're not downloading 9.0.2 for the 6S for instance. So then, you have the correct IPSW. Have you converted it on your desktop? Rather than extracting the files and faffing about, I just change the end of the file name to .IPSW - it will then change into the icon of a Lego brick on your desktop. Have you got the Lego brick?

Download the ipsw for 9.1 and see if you can restore it under DFU mode. It will help you narrow it the possibilities.

If you're running the latest version of iTunes and have downloaded the correct IPSW file to your desktop, then changed the file name after the '.' to '.ipsw' then you should be able to select that file via iTunes and install it onto your phone...providing Apple are still signing it.

Figured it out. tried downloading ipsw file in Explorer instead of Chrome.. The file that downloaded in Explorer came in as a zip file and i just changed the extension to .ipsw. The file was obviosly a different size than the Chrome download that came in as an .ipsw already..

Thats the FIRST and probably LAST time that Internet Explorer came to the rescue!!!

Why did you want to downgrade? Just curious , I haven't downloaded 9.1 because my battery life is so so good I'm scared to risk it

9.1 did show improvements but the only reason i went to 9.1 was because my jailbroken 9.0.2 bootlooped after a cydia essential upgrade. Then couldn't get the 9.0.2 ipsw to work and was just trying anything to get out of bootloop..
