I had Lion GM installed on a partition, then I decided to remove it so I booted from the SL DVD, used disk utility from the terminal to erase the Lion recovery partition and merge it with the Lion partition, then erased the now-larger Lion partition to HFS+. Now when I try to expand my Macintosh HD partition again I get an error about disk verification - the whole process (before, after and error) is documented in the pictures in my Flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/59098813@N06/sets/72157627149534090/

Any ideas? How can I reclaim this space?

Have you tried booting from your SL disc and running repair on the file system and then resizing it from there?

It's usually not a good idea to try disk utility operations on the partitions you are booted from.
