So I've just downloaded Xcode, and when I try to run it I get prompted to install Rosetta.

However, when I try to click on the install button I just get the error beep. In fact, no matter where I click on the window, I get the error beep.

Is there another way to install Rosetta?

Any help is appreciated.

I've sorted it.

If anyone else runs into the problem, simply open Terminal and use the following code:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

Agree, then it's installed.

Thank you so much for this! I had been looking all over and seen other fixes that were too complex. I needed to get it sorted right away. I just signed up just to be able to sent you a thank you. Not sure you will see it, but this was simple and fixed the issue right away! You rock!

The Terminal prompt doesn't work for me. I rebooted my Mac to factory settings yesterday and can't seem to install Rosetta today to use Zoom.
The error message I get only says:

'Install failed with error: An error has occurred. Please try again later.%'

Zoom is now a Universal app and does not need Rosetta.

Normally you don't need to install Rosetta; just opening an Intel app will cause it to auto install.

It's never an auto-install. You are automatically prompted to install upon the very first launch of an Intel-only binary. But, clearly the problem the OP and others chiming in with them is that installation via this prompt isn't working.

Incidentally, only the IT installer for Zoom is Universal. The standard downloads are either Intel-only or Apple Silicon-only. Though, to your point, yes, one does not need Rosetta 2 installed in order to have Zoom operate just fine on their Apple Silicon Mac.

By auto-install I meant that you should not need to manually install it but that it automatically offers when you run the first intel app. Evidently that process is not reliable for everyone.

I did not know that there were different binaries served by Zoom, but I guess as an individual you would need to choose to install the AS version. Thanks.

You CAN also download and install the IT installer, it's just a pain because it's expecting you to have pre-coded preferences and customizations and if you're not doing this in an IT environment, that expectation will be...annoying.
