Unable to install Security Update 2016-003

Hello everyone,

Is anyone else having problems installing "Security Update 2016-003 10.11.6"? I've tried from the App Store and from the standalone download. In both cases the install gets to the point where it restarts but when it reboots it says that the computer was restarted due to an error. The security update is not installed.

I've tried as an Administrator and not as an Administrator.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I would boot safe mode, then boot normal and then try the standalone download again.

I tried and it didn't work.

Oddly enough, the command line software update command did.

For anyone curious:
softwareupdate -i -v 'Security Update 2016-003-10.11.6'

Execute the full 10.11.6 installer from app store again.

And than do all updates incl. Security Update 2016-003.

You mean re-install OS X on top of the existing install? Is there a known issue that will be solved with this tactic?

Also, I got 2016-003 installed already, so I'm not sure it would re-install (it might, I've never tried).

Yes. Something broken in your system should be repaired with a full install.
