Hi there,

So I've just tried installing Windows 10 via bootcamp, about 30 minutes had past and it was still saying the disk was being partitioned but the blue slider hadn't moved at all so I decided to switch off the iMac because it became unresponsive.
I've just opened up bootcamp assistant again, tried running it and I've noticed that I've now only got 1.2TB available of 1.6TB even though when I open up about this mac it shows 2.12TB. Any ideas on how I can get the storage back or will I need to do a fresh install/restore? Also, it won't allow to me to install now, just says that an error has occurred.

thanks

Disk Warrior may fix that, and is a good next step, but if it fails, then you will need to reformat the drive completely.

You MIGHT be closer to a fix by un-fusing the fusion drive. This can be done through your Terminal. The Boot Camp partition, if it was successfully created, does not use the SSD part of the fusion drive at all, and only uses the spinning hard drive. That can explain why the Boot Camp process might take some extra time to complete, and why you should be patient. 30 minutes is NOT a long period of time to allow process to complete. The WORST event was shutting power off in the middle of the re-partition process. That leaves at least part of your fusion drive unusable, and might even have physically damaged the hard drive.

Thanks for your response. Gave it a go but I've had to reformat, only got a couple hundred GB to transfer back. Just trying to install windows again, using boot camp assistant. Task status is currently partitioning disk and it's stuck halfway, think it's been about 20 minutes already. :(

Be patient. If it takes an hour or more, then that's what it takes, although, to be honest, I would choose to give up after about 90 minutes.
