Note: if you're not a dev... wait till sept. Seriously. You guys are idiots literally because you are all downloading these betas and then leaving stupid reviews in the app store stating how the apps don't work on beta.

I don't have an issue with anybody that wants to try the beta. However, if you are using a beta you should not leave a review for any app you used on the beta.

I agree with that, but don't you think there is a reason as to why Apple has made it so hard for these folks to obtain a beta?

Anyways, I am not here to argue with anyone. I posted a guide up on how to downgrade. Hope you find it helpful.

Try this

Step 1. Go to your “Applications” folder.
Step 2. Then go to “Utilities” folder.
Step 3. Launch “Terminal”.
Step 4. Type the following command in terminal “sudo nano /etc/hosts” and hit enter.
Step 5. Terminal will ask for you password, enter your password.
Step 6. Use the down arrow key to find the “gs.apple.com” entries. Once the cursor is in front, make sure you comment out the line(s) by entering “#” in front of the text. Should look like this "#gs.apple.com"
Step 7. Save the file by pressing CONTROL+O.
Step 8. Exit the nano editor by pressing CONTROL+X.
Step 9. Download 4.3.3 ipsw.
Step 10. Place your iPhone into DFU and restore your iPhone by directing iTunes to the downloaded ipsw.

Although this may work (I have no idea so I wouldn't comment on it's legitimacy), I believe the steps I mentioned above may be easier for you. My 2¢.

Unfortunately neither x-code or iTunes is working for me.

I have tried both xcode and iTunes as per the instructions posted by others (the reson for my reverting is my old backup from 4.3.3 wont restore to the 5.0 b3 propperly). Unfortunately, neither scenario is working for reverting back to 4.3.3.... It apears as if once you swing that way (5.0 b3) there is no swinging back.... Please if anyone can successfull revert or downgrade to an earlier firmware advise.

Much appreciated.

enter pwned dfu mode from ireb (snowbreeze)
shift restore from itunes 10.3.1 (10.5b3 may also work)

Tuxing, have you tried it w/ 5.0 b3 yet?

Should I exit DFU, puting me back to 5.0 b3 then Snowbreeze, then pwndDFU, then try again?

Please confirm that you have successfully done this with b3?

Thanks much, really appreciate your help

I just realized iReb doesnt work on an iPad 2, any other way to accomplish this?

Thanks

I successfully restored to 4.3.3 on ipad1 from 5b3 using itunes10.3.1 using pwned dfu.
Haven't tried on 10.5b3 but should work with pwned dfu not just dfu.

This pwned dfu can be achieved from ireb or redsnow.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/9A5248d Safari/6533.18.5)

Simply just restart your pc. Had the same problem with upgrading to B2. A restart worked perfect for me :)
Good luck!

Good morning all....

Well i came here with the same problem....google it...and wasn´t able to find anything....indeed ios 5 beta 3 doesn´t allow you to roll back to 4.3.3

but i´m a curious guy...kkkkk...so...i tryied to roll back to ios 5 beta 2....and worked....

suprisely...with the ios 5 beta 2...i could easely...roll back to 4.3.3...

so...give it a try....it worked for me...

Ps. Sorry for my english....7 years i don´t write english...rsrsrsr, i´m Brazil

Maxwill2010, you are the man!

All I can say, is that's an extremely clever work around, but it's the ONLY thing that worked for me.

With the exception that I had to use Xcode to push 4.3.3 back to the device after downgrading to 5.0 b2.

Thanks so much!!

Yes this works! I downgraded to beta 2 and put my phone in recovery mode and restored to 4.3.3 with no problems!!

1. Downgrade iTunes by doing a clean install (try not to delete old library as new library is not recognized by old one so copy it first)
2. Download the ipsw for 4.3.3
3. Put iPhone in DFU mode (too lazy to type out how so google it)
4. Let iTunes recognize DFU mode
5. Hit restore and choose latest 4.3.3 backup if you want
6. You should be done

*Known issues:
iTunes beta library is not readable by current iTunes. Make sure you make a copy of current iTunes first.
There is a good chance the restore process will seem like it is doing nothing on the phone. The Apple logo stays persistent. This is fine... do not be stupid and cancel it and pull cable out. If you do, you will go in the restore loop which cannot be solved with another DFU. To solve this issue, you would need RecBoot to kick it out first and then try the same process again.

Note: if you're not a dev... wait till sept. Seriously. You guys are idiots literally because you are all downloading these betas and then leaving stupid reviews in the app store stating how the apps don't work on beta.

Just an FYI about that bolded part: ~/Music/iTunes/ contains a binary data file called iTunes Library (there's an XML file floating around in there as well but that's not important). It is this binary file that is incompatible with previous iTunes versions (i.e. the iTunes Library file from 10.5 beta will not be recognized by 10.3.1).

However, every time you upgrade iTunes it saves a backup of the iTunes Library file in the folder ~/Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries/. After downgrading iTunes (and before launching it), it is sufficient to copy the appropriate previous library file from ~/Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraries/ to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library and then launch iTunes.

Cheers,

Would all the "experts" telling people you cannot roll back from B3 to 4.3.3, talking like it's an absolute fact, stop doing so.

I have Snow Leopard installed on a USB external drive (Lion GM on internal drive) and I simply synced my iPhone 4 on B3 with iTunes 10.3.1 on Snow Leopard, put the device into DFU mode, navigated to the 4.3.3 ipsw file after Option+Clicking on Restore, and off it went.

It works, I've done it. No lies, no boasting, it CAN be done.

I put the phone in Pawned DFU mode using redsnow 0.9.8b1 and iOS 5 beta 1 and restoring through iTunes 10.3.1 went smoothly to 4.3.4

Edit: beware though, when you want to go back to 5.0 b 3 you also have to go into pawned DFU mode, else iTunes will tell you that it cannot contact update servers or will give you error 20.....

I hope that I will be able to update to b4 after all this.... without any hassle.
