Hello,
first, I'm sorry for terrible english.

I’m working with Apple Mac Book Pro, with 10.5.8 system and wi-fi connection (via Airport)
E-mail software: Microsoft Entourage.

Now, after two years without trouble, I unable to send e-mail with attachment up to 190 kb.
All that over 190 kb and text message I able to send. And receive all (with or without attachment).

I have tried with many mail software, like Thunderbird (and others by third parts)
I have tried with different SMTP.
I have tried to reinstall the connection with Network Control.

The connection with my Internet Provider is ok.
The e-mail (with or without attachment up to 190 kb) from my PC with Outlook, can run (same connection of Mac)
Web mail is ok
Internet connection is ok

I tried a lot ways to resolve, but I failed.

Can we help me?
Thanks

The message with attachment start untill 190 kb loaded
then, appear the message "The connection to the server was interrupted".

Instead, on PC with Outlook, mail start without problems.

Thank you

Also:

- Server timeout
- Network traffic is excessive
- Is possible that the server is unable
- Is possible that server is overload

That's all

I've got this problem too and so far I've tried Thunderbird and Mail with Gmail. It's been working fine all the while and stopped working one day for no apparent reason, no software update... nothing changed. I started in thread in another section but got no reply.

Could you do the following.

1- quit thunderdird
2- open Terminal and type those 3 comands

export NSPR_LOG_FILE=/tmp/thunderbird.log
export NSPR_LOG_MODULES=smtp:5
/Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin

this will launch Thunderbird.

Now send an email with an attachment.

A log file in /tmp/thunderbird.log should generated. Please post the content of the file here.

Tex

The file log wasn't created and Thunderbird alert is: The connection to SMTP server timed out:(

Thank you

Yes, of course.
Hmm without the log file we can't go further :( Which version of thunderbird do you have ? I tried it with 3.1 I think

EDIT: ah well if the connection timed out, there was no smtp communication hence no log file. Check 1st your outbound SMTP server settings.

I'm working with Microsoft Entourage (v. 11.4.0).
I've used Thunderbird only for try to understand the problem.

:eek:Today new error message: "smpt209".

Thanks

Hi,
since I don't use/have MS Entourage, it would be good if you could continue to use Thunderbird for this debugging. We have to find out if it is a server or client problem 1st.

This is the last message from console:

As I said in my previous post, I can't help you with debugging MS Entourage.
