Hi all
My wife has a 2020 M1 Air. It’s currently on Ventura. I’ve been trying to update it to sequoia but had no luck. So I thought I’d try and bridge the gap by updating to Sonoma first. But the result is pretty much always the same: the install fails. I’ve never had these type of issues on my old Intel MBP.

Could anyone help? Here is a log file from the Sonoma installer.

One stand out is “Will require Rosetta update (fatal)”. I downloaded an x86 binary and ran it which confirms it’s installed. I tried running a command from terminal to update it, it gave an error about being unable to find a package, but then seals it had succeeded. The other one that pops up a lot is “unable to find bridging device”.

Can anyone help? It’s so frustrating, I’ve upgraded unsupported Mac’s in the past with less hassle than this!

Thanks

Yup i tried this after initially failing via settings. I tried it from safe mode too, for some reason there it will end up not responding on launch and need to be force quit from activity monitor. It doesn’t even get as far to fail in the usual way

Of course, make backup first.

Run diagnostics.

If checks out, nuclear option… restore using Apple Configurator.
