If you've seen the other SNL sketch, well, this one is funnier.
Funny enough for me to include a complementary transcript.

Probably why it didn't air. While all in fun, I'm sure it doesn't go over well for everyone. I was stunned catching an episode of "Deal or No Deal" the other day. The contestant was a cop, and the "banker" made an offer by sending down a live pig dressed in an officer's costume. I had trouble seeing how it was funny. The policeman then proceeded to lose all of his money, nose-diving from upwards to $150,000 to $1,000 take-home winnings. I sware his wife was almost crying. I don't know how Howie manages it when the air leaves the room like that.

If it were spoofing something particular that cops did to deserve being made fun of, I'm more than ok with that...just seemed a bit too forced to me.

Like let's take this nice white Jewish boy and make him a cop beater and a meth head AND an iPhone user.

    Oh! The irony!

It becomes less funny when it strikes a raw nerve with someone. Otherwise its hilarious. Happens with risque humor or so-called "black comedy" all the time. Some people in the audience just get incensed and walk out of the movie. Personally I don't find this bit particularly out of line, although I'm sure my cop friends might not think the same.

Eh, risque don't bother me, I just think it's a bit forced that's all.

A good parody has more truth in it. That was more of a farce which sort of sells the comic potential short.

I would have gone for more of a parody angle with the content, not just the setting.

Perhaps that was the "irony" -- I see it, I just don't think it's particularly amusing. And I generally find humor in lots of things.

Then again, it is SNL, so maybe I am being a little too hard on them.
