Summary - if you were using your iPad to read books bought from Amazon, B&N, etc, fuggedaboudit because Apple will ban any app that allows you to read content you bought off-Apple, or without Apple getting their cut.

Sony first, Amazon Kindle next I presume.

I'd been debating whether to buy a next gen iPad or an Android tablet this year, its a no-brainer now, this kind of autocratic behaviour oversteps the mark by a looong way for me. And on a purely pragmatic basis, it makes the iPad much less multi-purpose and thus less useful.

I suppose Apple have done their sums and think the losses from people like me will be more than outweighed by those who stick with it, knowingly or unknowingly, and pay the Apple tax on content.

Apple knows you'll piss and moan for a bit, and then in the end you'll come right back.
