When any of the armchair quarterbacks posting up here have 19 million subscribers, let me know.

So you strangely assume that other people here have YouTube channels or something? What a bizarre post.

Most of the people here that are posting or are readers, are involved professionally in the tech industry as software engineers, coders, development/engineer, ect.

No one here ‘needs’ to have 19 million subscribers to post that the majority know Lou is a clown.

How come? What’s so great about it?
You have Apple shareholders on here who will try to hype and defend everything Apple does. It’s just propaganda. There’s absolutely nothing special about it. Just another minor upgrade as far as I can tell.

I was at dinner tonight with my brother and he has the fold 3. This was the first time I really got to play with it and try out all of the things. I thought to myself: There are some drawbacks here for sure but this is such an exceptional device and the only thing to get excited about with regards to Apple is a stupid 'I' shaped cut-out and an oversized camera bump that has become a parody of itself.

This is 50% right. Most of these defenders aren't shareholders, Apple is simply a religion for them.

Cool, so similar but with small refinements. For my part the pro and max models aren’t my demographic, probably got a fair few years of use with the 13 mini, size matters lol, hopefully moving forward the SE will become the mini, one can hope!

That may have been historically true, however content creators are required to flag / disclose paid-for reviews or sponsorships as per the YouTube T&Cs. This was a huge thing a few years ago, and for the better.
Let me explain how he does it.

His video does not mention anywhere that it is a paid review.

In the section below the video (where he can type some text about the video), a few lines down he'll hide the fact he was paid to make the video.

That means almost no one will know it's a paid review.

I just looked at this three previous videos and they're all paid reviews, but note he never mentions it in the video.

The video is pretty clearly flagging it is a paid promotion. You can see the overlay in the upper-left too.

If he wasn't flagging it as paid, it would be a major breach of YouTube's terms and conditions.

Including "includes paid promotion" is even more misleading.

"Includes paid promotion" is used when you include an advert or sponsored by section.

The ENTIRE "review" is an advertisement. You pay him to make a video saying nice things about your product.

How many people watching his videos realise they're watching 15 minute adverts?

At no point does he say the review is fake and is an advertisement.

He is misleading the viewers by pretending the videos are reviews. They are paid for adverts.

Everyone complaining about Unboxed Therapy, who is your go to then? Jon Prosser probably.
Nah, I just avoid new tech reviews like the plague. I might watch the occasional scam/spam product debunking, but that’s the closest I get to videos about new tech. Too many hucksters, scammers, clickbaiters, and so many of them just have an annoyingly loud and obnoxious presentation style.

When it comes to retro tech, there are a few channels I unreservedly enjoy, and there are a few whose videos I’ll watch if they pop up in my recommendations and the subject looks interesting enough. But the vast majority of tech YouTubers really grate on me. It’s like they’re TALKING IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME!!!ONE!!!!ELEVENTYONE!! YouTubers, in general, often don’t get presentation right. You get dry lectures, people who shout so much they should really be doing commercials for discount furniture, people without a lot of stage presence. I strongly prefer presenters who are genuinely excited and enthusiastic about their subject or are laid back (maybe with a slightly dry sense of humor). The former has an appealing earnestness to it, while the latter is easier to marathon listen to.

4 pages of bashing Unbox Therapy is clear evidence of Lew's success.

By those metrics, he’s clearly still far behind PewDiePie in terms of quality. This is just the bandwagon fallacy. (“50 million people can’t be wrong”, even if the rest of the 300 million people in the country absolutely hate it.)

I can understand that.
