Unclaimed iTunes gift Vouchers

Hi guys.

Just found some unused iTunes voucher cards at home.

Interesting thing about these iTunes cards, they don't have a date of expiry.

I tried entering the card code to claim the vouchers, its expired.

How can apple be giving out vouchers, which unless scratched and claimed, the date of expiry cannot be viewed.

I think this is really careless of Apple.
Can i get a refund/exchange for these vouchers?
