Resolved Undeletable Folders in Trash

After moving files over from my Windows PC some of them are 'stuck' in the trash can. When I empty the can there's no error, they just stay there.. it's about 4 folders nested in each other with no file at the end.

How can I forcibly remove these safely?

Thanks for those resources - many of them didn't work, however I did realise the folder in question 'A' was actually in the .Trashes on my external hard drive and not on the PC so I just formatted the hard drive and it's gone from everywhere now.
