What are you trying to use the AppleScript code for? You can click run in the AppleScript window or you can save it as an application and run it like any other program.
What to do.
Sounds like you got a complete code of what you needed. I would make sure there is no changes you need to customize by doing as you have done before and double clicking the file.
Once you are comfortable with your changes or trust how it will run on your system you can click on File in the upper menu and choose export. you would want to export to Application. This will create a runnable version of the code without needing to run within the editor directly.
