I'm trying to make my computer a little snappier, so i'm interested in which applications that I'm running are taking up the most RAM, or are slowing down my computer the most. I think the activity monitor helps me do this, but i'm not sure what all that information means.

Does high "virtual memory" mean it's slowing me down? what are the important categories to look at?
