Bump... how’s the ”wake” delay on always on series5 vs series 6 these days?

And how much brighter is 6’s always on?
Don't notice a different between 5 and 6 but I never noticed a delay in the first place.

Inside the 6 looks the same but in sunlight I can definitely tell it's brighter.

I just went from a Series 4 to a Series 6 last week and the first thing I did was turn off AOD. I don't need it always on and would rather save my battery.

I just upgraded from my 4 and considering as well. On a phone it’s worth it because you can can simply just look at your phone for messages or the time on Android devices but with a watch by the time I turn my wrist to look at it 99.99% of the time it’s already on. I think once or twice I had to click on the screen or something

I guess I don't have the right use case for AOD to be a game changer. When I upgraded from S4 to S6, I thought I'd try it out riding my bike or on walks. The workout app I use doesn't show the screen clearly when I need to look at it. AOD is now off. Raise to wake works much better for my needs, and tapping the screen works just fine too.

I was a bit apprehensive about buying my first AW after having Garmins for years and being generally very pleased with the GPS / battery life etc. I thought long and hard about the 40 or 44mm sizes. The 40 looks best on my wrist but wondered whether the battery life would be better on the 44. I took the plunge and bought the AW 6 40mm. Since switching on 5 days ago been very impressed. Using AOD which is very readable outdoors, heart and activity monitoring plus approx an hour of walk or run each day, plus notifications on and I’m only charging every other day at the same time. That’s way better than I was expecting from the smaller size. The only problems have had are occasionally missing a bit of heart monitoring while walking in extreme cold (but I’ve had that with other watches) and to begin with the Altimeter / Elevation via the Compass app was wildly inaccurate, sometimes by 100’s of mtrs. That seems to have sorted itself out now. The GPS using the watch in Airplane mode has been very accurate. I was apprehensive but have been pleasantly surprised. I’ll still need to use my Garmin 5x for long events but as an everyday watch plus occasional activity I think it’s brilliant. Finally on the battery life, after 48 hours I’ve usually got between 5 and 10% left and it only takes just over an hour to charge.

I was more than happy with my 4 but a UK retailer is selling off the steel series 5 (£329, bargain) so I picked one up, so far I'm enjoying it but am really looking forward to using aod in the pool (when they re-open!), it was a real pita to try to activate my 4 whilst swimming. Fresh battery, new warranty, aod, bigger memory, and not £750, happy days!

I am using smart watches for 3.... almost 4 years now... I got so used with the "looking at the watch" hand gesture that once I got my AW5 and turned the AOD on I realized after a few weeks that I never glance at the watch because I am so used to the screen being off.

Also, at work I am always shirt and tie and I don't see my watch anyway because it is tucked away under the sleeve almost all the time...

Turned the AOD off after a month... In my particular use case, I decided to opt for more battery life rather than an AOD that I rarely use...
