Undo resized photo in Preview

Hello,

I'm new to Mac and I'm desperate for help.

I opened my SDHC card and was looking at one photo. Then I resized it. Then I accidentally closed Preview before Save as another version. There was no asking for confirmation and the original file was downsized from 7MB to 200Kb.

I tried to press Command Z but it was too late. I'm not sure how I can recover my original image back.

You can't. You saved it, either via CMD+S or an accidental click, in the lower resolution and thus overwriting the existing file.
You cannot get back the old photo with the original resolution, you can only enlarge the current smaller one, but it will cause image quality loss.

I'm using a Mac OS X v10.8.5 and had this problem recently.

You can fix by opening the image and going to:
File > Revert To > Browse All Versions…

You can then restore the original or the version of your choice.
