undo terminal command

after searching for an answer in the web regarding the recent appearance of a "private folder" in my mac, i typed a command in terminal and now my hard disk is no longer visible in my desktop.
the command was:

sudo chflags hidden /private/

how can i undo this?

i entered the command, rebooted and my HD is still not there

Sorry about that, its "sudo chflags nohidden /private/"

Just to check, go into Finder Preferences > General and make sure that Hard Disks is selected.
