Would happily take a 5MP Camera with superior sensors than a 16MP Camera with a crappy one. All 16MP will do is use up more memory. I'm not gonna print poster pictures using a phone.

For me, an unexpected (but highly pleasant) surprise would be the iPhone 5 featuring capacitive (and click) home button. This would be ideal for swipe like gestures for switching between apps, or bringing up the Mic for Assistant, etc.

The current home button is not adequate for the multitasking usage/abuse it goes through.

On the LED light subject, I saw someone once talk about making the square on the home button be the light up LED. It could slowly flash showing you had a missed message/call. And, if they get fancy, they could change the color depending on if you missed a message, call, or notification (or alternate through different colors showing you have missed several things, that would be bloody wicked, watching it flash red, then green, then white, and the repeating). That way, it'd keep the nice iPhone look that we all know and love, but add more another feature without seeming like it's out of place.

Exactly. Unless you're planning on printing out massive pictures (which you should probably get a standalone camera for) you don't need more than 5 mp.

Just curious, but isn't the higher megapixels good for zooming and then cropping a specific portion of a large photo out while still having great detail?

Like lets say I took the following photo:

computer-and-video-games.jpg

But I really only want to have my kids face on the left and get crop/get rid of everything else... wouldn't it be much better detail wise to have an 8mp camera then rather than 5mp?

AS in my other post:

Tuesday, October 10:

iPhone 5 debuts: quad core cpu and/or quad core gpu. That's the biggest upgrade next to the larger screen size. Then the 8MP camera has stabilization of some sort (maybe), 720p @60fps. If they do put in a quad core, perhaps we may even see 1080p recording. But I could care less for 1080p, give me 720p @24, 30, 60fps anyday.

Everything else is icing on the cake.

Do you want to be surprised? Apple will release iOS 5 but neither iPhone 4S nor iPhone 5 will be released until 2012 because of production issues. Then... I guess most of us would get super surprise. :p:p

Haha I could totally see this. The name of the event is "Let's talk iPhone"

Sounds exciting right? Well imagine if your girlfriend said that to you... not so fun then.

You'd have a larger pic to crop from, but that doesn't mean the image will be any clearer, that depends on a handful of things., Assuming the sensor is the same size the image would be darker and have more noise, especially in a low light environment like in that pic.

(I'm not really an expert on this stuff, this is what I learned from a friend who's a professional photographer. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

A surprise feature I would like is Smart Cover for the iPhone. I really like it on my iPad, it makes it feel like opening and closing a book. Having one on the iPhone would make it feel like a small pocketbook. Not to everyone's taste, I'm sure, but am I the only one who thinks it could be neat?

chance of a LED indicator in new iPhone = 95% (based on many rumors)
I haven't heard any rumors from reliable sources in this. Where did you hear this from?

Me neither. Wonder what reliable source neocron heard that from

Also I would be REALLY surprised if the battery life was better than the iPhone 4

Lol, not me but neocron. But yeah, I've heard nothing about LEDs

Hardware wise, I know a lot of people have mentioned how they would love an LED indicator light on the outside, and I definitely think this would be a good addition. I can already envision a little green LED (a la iSight camera). It could pull double duty in both alerting you to missed calls....Something that is very Apple-y.
Sounds like a copy of a Blackberry LED.

Not very "Apple-y"

More like a blatant rip off. Classic Apple, copy, copy, copy :)

We have talked the 4s vs. 5 issue to death, and no matter the eventual form factor, everyone pretty much agrees that we will get the A5, 8mp camera, and Assistant feature, but besides these things, I am hoping for some legitimate big surprises.

Related to software, obviously we are getting the new notifications system and iCloud, which looks really great. But I am hoping for something new and unexpected. I'm not really sure what. I don't care about NFC really. I know some people hate the idea of a gesture button/area, and some love it. I'm not really sure myself. I'm just hoping for some exciting new features that we don't know about yet. Something that is very Apple-y.

And the fact that there's a little image of you not enough of an idication that the camera is on?

I have never been a fan of Apple's cameras. The one on the rear of my iPad 2 is supposed to be HD quality but it has more grain than Uncle Ben. As others have said megapixels only go so far, it is the quality of the lens that really counts.

I wouldn't mind having better camera even if it means saving larger files as long as there is an option of lowering the quality.

Love the idea someone else said of the iPad 2 style cover.

PJ.

Seconded - a really great quality camera would be amazing. Not something I think any Apple products have had yet

Do you have an iPhone 4? It puts the iPad's camera to shame.
