Beyond the basic health tracking and aesthetics, are there features you like that you didn't initially think about? Or -- what do you find most useful or enjoy the most with your AW?

1. Timer on watch face: use it 5 or 6 times a day for all kinds of things.
2. Haptic integration of maps (taps on wrist to indicate upcoming turns).
3. Freedom from phone. Don't have to drag my phone around with me from room to room.
4. Find phone ping. Amazing how my phone can hide in a hotel room.
5. Fitness tracking integrated into watch.

I just got an update to Filmic Pro that will allow you to see a live video preview right on the watch. I wasn't expecting that!

Having the sleep tracking and silent alarm to not wake up my wife was a huge plus. I wasn't sure if that would work. It was the main reason I was using the UP24 band... Between Sleep Pulse and HeartWatch apps, I can track everything I need to know about sleep and how my heart is behaving. Since the Apple Watch seems to love my skin :) I have never missed a heart rate reading during sleeping and HeartWatch gives me a nice graphical breakdown of my heart rate and where I fall in the resting range. Fun to track your health improvements that you normally wouldn't see in the mirror - resting heart rate drops, etc.

I really love the simplicity of changing bands to match what I am wearing and to use the same watch for weightlifting or swimming as I would with a suit. Quick change to the link bracelet or classic buckle and it looks very professional and not cheesy like other smart watches or way to big to fit under customer shirts like Garmin or others.

I love only having the watch and bluetooth headphones when I go for a run or even walk. I can't think of another device out there that lets me just have bluetooth headphones and a watch to play music, track my heart rate and steps and still allow me to take notes, to do's, calendar items, end more. It always adds automatically when I am back in range.

The ApplePay was a great surprise and the ability to use known networks was a huge surprise when I left my phone at home and sat in a coffee shop ordering food and receiving texts from my wife. :)

I love how well SIRI is working now to send messages and set timers and take notes. It translate my reminders into to do lists with the App Things - it adds items to my grocery list. All of this without waiting and wondering if it took. I just say the command and put my arm down. It was about 95% accurate before, but through the beta's it seems to be 100% for me now.
When do you charge your Apple Watch then since you wear it during your sleep? Curious.

  • Standing reminders. Seems silly, and I laughed at it at first, but sitting down for long periods of time is actually pretty bad for your health— more than people think. I never realized how long I was sitting down without taking breaks before my AW.
  • Checking email. Again, I thought this was silly at first, because who wants to read full emails on a tiny screen? But this has proven to be surprisingly useful for me.
  • *Before 2.2* I liked how I could swipe up and use the Maps glance to instantly see how long it would take me to get to work in the morning, and I could adjust my routine based on any traffic. However, I have to take that extra step to tap on "Work" now, and it just tells me I need to add a work address in my contact card (which I did) and refuses to work.

The ability to connect directly via wifi if my iPhone is not nearby. Just had a real need for this: accidentally left phone in car after lunch, but Watch was still able to connect to my guest wifi at work and relay a message to me about an important call that was being rescheduled to right that moment. Had the Watch not been able to connect to the wifi, I would not have been able to take the call. While not really "unexpected", it was a feature I did not really ever expect to need. Glad it was there when I did need it, though!

I would love this feature in theory but I've never actually gotten it to work. Any tips and tricks?

With bluetooth on and iPhone and watch connected, forget your current wifi network and re-add (on 2.4GHz as the watch cannot see 5GHz). The two should now join to Wifi. I turn off bluetooth at home now just let the two devices communicate over wifi. Seems fully functional.

I noticed also that previously i tethered my iPhone to my android phone and its copied the connection details too.
I take my android phone out biking and geocaching as it's waterproof, with my apple watch tethered I now get my SMS and iMessages relayed which is a huge bonus as the android phone uses a different number. Well pleased :)

I wear mine overnight, too, not for sleep tracking but to serve as my alarm clock. I charge mine while we're chilling in the evening, after I've showered and before bedtime. A few times, I've also topped it off in the morning while I'm getting ready to head out.

I see. Does your wife have big t.... Sorry. Wrong forum.

I'm sure some people knew already, but I just learned that the Watch's language will automatically change to go with the last keyboard used on the iPhone:

There is a lot about this watch that I love but the one thing that I never thought I would really use on the watch is maps. I love using maps on my watch! I have a car with navigation but the voice drives me crazy so I can have my nav on but get the taptic feedback on my wrist. Now I can ignore the screen in the car until the watch notifies me I'm getting ready to turn. I've also used it walking around town and it's shown me a few shortcuts to my favorite lunch places. I would never walk around with the phone for navigation but the watch is so discreet, I love it!
