I noticed that my Unibody does not perform as well as my old macbook when it comes to network performance, but maybe my airport specs are incorrect?:

Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8D)
Wireless Card Locale: USA
Wireless Card Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.38.35)

Is the firmware supposed to be that version? If not, can someone link me to the latest version?

Code:
Wireless Card Type:	AirPort Extreme (0x14E4, 0x8E)
  Wireless Card Locale:	Worldwide
Wireless Card Firmware Version:	Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.10.38.35)

Seems alright to me. That's ^^^ mine.

It's due to metal vs. plastic case.

I think you may have over-thought the problem a little bit seeing how the computer is factory setup 😱

Yeah actually that was my initial conjecture, but I didn't know that was an issue seeing as this is aluminum. And, factory setup is almost as reliable as you make it sound to be. As you have seen with many cases here, it is better to be cautious (though definitely not over-the-top)
