Post as soon as you try out that kext file please

The kext didn't work. The modded kext only enables the gestures on macbooks that already know their capable of it thats why this mod is for some MBPs and the first MBA. i need to get the appleUSBtopcase.kext (to fool it into thinking it has a unibody trackpad) and appleUSBmultitouch.kext (to enable it) from a unibody MB someone please send these to me

It's been rumored that they would expand it in Snow Leopard. I'm not so sure about those rumors now because I haven't heard them in a while but you all may want to wait and see.

well i transfered:
AppleUSBmultitouch.kext
appleUSBtopcase.kext
appleHIDmouse.kext

from a unibody

no luck :( guess it apple is too smart for that

althought the 4 finger gestures work wonderfuly on my macbook with random truth's driver running linux

ideas?

I don't know if everyone understood the point. If it works in Linux then it's not a hardware problem but a software problem. Let me state this clearer, the hardware supports it, OS X doesn't.

I don't know people automatically jump to the conclusion that the hardware doesn't support it when it doesn't work in MAC OS X. Apple is known to limit the capabilities of certain hardware by not providing support in the drivers. The iPhone was fully capable with copy and paste and A2DP and bluetooth data transfers from the start but chose not to implement it for some reason until much later, probably to milk more money from the consumers.

I jumped to the conclusion that the hardware doesnt support it because the early macbooks and macbook pros DONT. if you ran that same linux software on my core duo macbook pro, you wouldnt have the 4 finger gestures. in your case, it is apparently a software limitation. I cant give the rationale for others' reasons for jumping to that conclusion, but I have given mine, and it is valid.

dont assume others are being ignorant... there is a lot of wealth of information that the members here bring to bear... it's how to use it that's the key

hmm, maybe you guys could try the VoodooPS2Controller instead of the appleps2controller? the white macbook afaik, has a synaptics touchpad, so gestures should work with it :)
