Maybe this has been covered but I couldn't find it.

Can you replace the hard drive in the 17" unibody yourself? (without voiding warranty)

    The Apple site says:
“You can upgrade the memory and hard drive yourself, or take it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider.”

Nowhere on the site does is say you void the warranty by doing so.

This is why there is some confusion as tech's say otherwise, from apple repair:

"If the swap is not done by an AASP, it would void warranty as the hard drive is not considered CIP."

I also called in to Apple and was told you CAN replace the drive yourself.

Swapping the drive does not void the warranty.
