Late 2008 macbook is not booting the hard drive. I swaped in a ssd but returned it and went to install my old hard drive. Now there is no Mac chime sound and when I turn it on there is just a blank grey splash screen.

I assume the data cable is either disconnected or broken.

I am missing one screw from the hard drive to hold it into the case do they act as a ground?

Just took the Mac a while to figure out there was a different hard drive in it.
