It does. It has an accelerometer built in to detect if the notebook has been dropped so it locks the hard drive platters to prevent data loss.

yes most laptops do have accelerometers but no there isnt a switch to turn off wifi, you have to do that in OSX

turning off wifi is only two clicks away...why are you really looking for a shortcut for it?

It sounds like you're a new Mac user. There's no switch to turn off wifi. On the top right of the menubar, there's an icon in a striped triangle shape with the top rounded and the pointy side down. You can click on it to turn on and off the wifi.
