Whenever I insert a disc, the drive rattles or makes weird sounds. I can hear the disc spin faster as the drive reads the disc, what should I do?

Isn't that normal? No drive is going to be totally silent. Every optical drive I've ever seen has made noise upon insertion of a disc....

No, its not the normal sound that drives usually make. Its a really loud slicing sound. Sometimes it sounds like a sewing machine. The discs read but its really annoying.

does it do it with all disks?? if not then is the disk scratched??

do you live near an apple store? if so genius bar time (they are free)
