Diagnosis:

Took the faulty MBP to the Apple Store. Gentleman at the Genius Bar replaces the entire computer, rather than isolating the problem and fixing one part.

Guess I will never know what was at fault. But at least what I have right now is working.

Hi,

Im having comparable issues to yours but I had mine since the inception. Nonetheless, I have a few questions for you:

1.) How long have you had your machine?
2.) Was it replaced, because you had your machine for less than 14 days?
3.) Was it a CTO?

Thanks for the info. I just don't want to go through the hassle of installing and configuring all of my multimedia suites again.

I got a new macbook pro 2.4ghz unibody on jan 8th and it seems to suffer different problems to anything ive read so far. i use a 27 inch dell monitor model 2709w and occasionally after it goes to sleep and wakes the dell monitor has old fashioned anologue tv snow on it. it sometimes stays but other times (rarely) corrects itself after a minute or so. i have also had a freeze today when just watching a movie on vlc player and reading some webpages in firefox.
i believe this is a new build of the mbp as i ran coconut battery and it said the machine is 7 weeks old. i havent spent much time using the 9600m gpu yet so i cant say if its the same for that. at the moment im guessing this is a driver issue. i will probably wait at least until the next leopard update before i consider doing anything about it as i can correct it if i change the resolution to something else then back again.
im just hoping its not a precursor to something bigger.
