Hi :)

I'd like to use unicode characters in my emails. OS X (Yosemite) automatically converts them to emojis, but I'd rather use the original black and white versions. I looked through system preferences, searched the web and I couldn't find anything. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I am not sure if the steps are exactly the same with Yosemite, but it should be similar.

System Preferences >> Keyboard >> Input Sources - check the box that says “Show Input menu in menu bar”.

Click the input menu icon and select to “Show Character Viewer”.

The Character Viewer will probably open minimized, click the box in the upper right to maximize.
