I am a huge fan of the new unified address bar. However, as a person who usually uses my right hand to type I constantly hit the .com button next to the space bar when trying to search. It is starting to really fustrate me, as I'm doing it just about twice a search.

They need to move it or get rid of it. The small space bar isn't working for me.

It also means that Google's search suggestions are displayed when you start typing, ABOVE your bookmarks and history.

You can't just start typing in an address, then tap the suggestion from your bookmarks. You have to stop typing, scroll down, allow the keyboard to hide, and then tap the bookmark suggestion. It's not great.

Nothing wrong with the old setup.

That is my biggest annoyance in iOS 7 too . I constantly do google searches with .com in them.

I've been hoping and waiting for a unified search bar and it's finally here. I'm constantly hitting the .com button as well. Maybe they can move that button and some others above the main keyboard like Google has done in the Chrome app.

I love the old setup as far as this goes. Love the change in general but sometimes you have a good thing you should keep the same.

I'm glad that there is a unified address bar now. I haven't been able to check out iOS 7 yet, but I know what you mean.

One thing that frustrates me is that both my mom and dad (They are only 43!), whenever I tell them to go somewhere, they always type it into google, even when I give them the exact address. They think its necessary that you have to go through google. So this will at least fix that problem.

yes at the .com would be a great position!

Thats a good point, I thought it was only me.
Also, in the UK, the ".com" is now ".co.uk" as default. Its really annoying since most websites I visit use the ".com" domain. I have to hold ".co.uk" and manually select ".com" all the time. I know, I know.. first world problems.. :p

Unified search I think would work fine on the iPad, but I don't care for it on the phone. The nice thing about the separated URL and search area was the custom keyboard for each area, now with it unified the .com is a PITA.

You don't need to type anything for your bookmarks. There is a new section called Favorites. Add a bookmark and set it to Favorites (the new default) instead of Bookmarks. Then when you tap the address bar, you see all of your favorites right away. No typing at all.

I just found this today and I absolutely love it. I also started using the swipe for back/forward. Now I never even need to use the hidden navigation bar unless I want a new tab.

The more I use iOS 7, the more I love it.

The "favourites" thing you speak of is called the bookmarks bar!

It syncs over iCloud to my Macs, and appears in the bookmarks bar of Safari. I have like three things in there which I access many times a day, but it's simply not where I keep my bookmark folders. I keep those in the bookmarks menu!

Why... lol. .com means a web address, 99.9% of the time if you've forgotten the website name, you can search for it WITHOUT .com.

Why? For the reason this thread exists: It's too easy to hit the .com button by accident.

Hmm really... I use the bookmarks bar on my Air, but nothing was synced to my phone. I hope my phone favorites don't sync to my Air's Safari. I don't go to all of the same sites on my phone and on my computer  (since many sites have iPhone apps of course).

What about just a button next to spacebar with "." instead of ".com" that is what takes longest to get to on the keyboard. So many new domains will not have ".com" anyway it is sorta irrelevant (think .apple .google etc. coming soon)

Another example of poor design. Remove a dedicated field at the top and add a dedicated button at the bottom. The difference is the button is in the way. No screen real estate was gained at the top and much lost at the bottom. Again, "regressed functionality".

That is another annoying thing. Why aren't they staying consistent with Safari in OSX? It called Bookmarks Bar, did they change the name in Maverick's, if not why not keep it consistent? Same with the share button.
