This is what happens when I insert a brand new blank DVD-RW into my Macbook Pro. Why can't I click any of the menu options? Why does it appear to be an empty disc?

I just want to start burning DVDs of some movies I own.

It appears as an empty disk because it is empty. If you want to burn movies to the disk, drag and drop the file to the disk and click burn in Finder.
