Hi

I have an issue with an app I cannot delete. I downloaded a file called '4shared desktop' and dragged one of the files into my applications folder (not the second because I realised it was the wrong file). Anyway, now I have the application icon (basically a shortcut of my application folder, in the application folder...). The site that I got it from is below.

http://www.4shared.com/zip/kFpUhBdC/KCNScrew_2012_by_1bct7atr8.html

I have tried using app zapper but it crashes. I've also tried using 'clean my mac'. I think the problem is that it is essentially trying to uninstall all my applications.

I know it's not a huge issue, just annoying.

Any ideas?

In most cases, app removal software doesn't do a thorough job of finding and removing files/folders related to deleted apps. For more information, read this and this. If you just want to delete the app, drag the .app file to the trash. No other software needed. If you want to completely remove all associated files/folders, no removal apps will do the job.

The most effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:

I would not recommend CleanMyMac, based on the number of complaints that have been posted in this forum and elsewhere. As an example: CleanMyMac cleaned too much.
