Hey, as amazing as cydia is, there is a problem that occured after i downloaded an app that keeps your jailbreak data in your restore settings. I also had catagories, which helps you organize apps and bossprefs(new version). Unfortunatly,i had all of my jailbroken apps in a catagory, hidden by bossprefs. I had to get the new apple update 2.2, so i did that and rejailbroke my ipod. But...nothing was there. Well, cydia and installer werent there. The boot logo was there, and even my numerical battery ( independant of winterboard. I concluded that my ipod is hiding them because catagories hides them. So now im stuck! Any advise? Id like to know im not alone! Also,do not make my misteak! It sucks!

PS. Anyone who read my previous thread will see a nice irony...lol

One of the reasons I uninstalles Catagories. A complete waste of time.

But what was this thing you spoke of that keeps all your jailbreak stuff? Does it keep themes, mods, add one etc? Oh... And what's it called? :D

You are not alone. This issue has come up several times before with as many threads.

I just answered the same query a couple of days ago:

On the other hand, it can be a good thing! I no longer have Stocks or Weather available on my phone because I hid them in a jailbreak and then upgraded. I love it!

I forget where I read it, but you are supposed to remove categories or move your apps to the home screen before you backup with AptBackup. Or else what happened to you happens. :)

Aswonderful as all of these things are and that i am not suffering alone, is there any known solution? Does downgrading to 2.1 do anything?

Restore to stock FW and re-jailbreak should fix all of your problems. I wouldn't use the aptbackup backup you made though, as its probably corrupt. It sounds like you'll need to manually re-install your packages.

I have tried that...several times. I cant see cydia anymore, but i know that its jailbroken by my numerical battery and the annoying fact that most of my (old) apps do not show up...including calculator. I think i'm screwed

Stop restoring your phone from a previous backup. You'll need to set up as a new phone. :) As I stated before, you didn't move your apps before backing up and now your backup is hosed. It sucks, but if you set up as new, you should be ok.

Go into Settings and Enable/Dissable Restrictions. Should work.

What I did was update the phone, jailbreak it, then before restoring from backup, connect the phone to wifi and download Bossprefs again. Use it to unhide Cydia or Categories or whatever you need access to, and then restore your phone from a backup. You will still have some hidden icons, but as long as you can open up Bossprefs, you'll be able to unhide them.

No, buddy, you don't understand... as soon as i jailbreak it, nothing shows up that it is jailbroken. cydia, nor installer is there. BUT my bootlogo is changed, my calculator is gone, and my battery is numerical. read some posts next time. I couldn't open cydia if i wanted to.

Sorry, I'm guessing you are a windows user using QuickPwn. I assumed you were jailbreaking by creating a custom ipsw using pwnage, then loading that onto the phone, then restoring a backup from itunes. If you were doing it this way, my method would work and you wouldn't have to lose all your text messages or anything from setting the phone up as new.
