I had a iphone 3gs, then 4 on 2 seperate 18 month contracts. Now i no longer have the iphone, i do however have an ipad.

A situation has presented itself, where i need to read my text messages from september 2012. As i may need to use this information as evidence.

Regular backups were made to itunes & the cloud.

Can anyone tell me how to retrieve this info?

    TIA

You cant restore an iphone backup file to an ipad.
Find an iphone and restore the oldest backup file you have available to see if the info you need is there.

The carriers may have this information, but I am not sure. The NSA most definitely has it

    Lol:D
The NSA and CIA most definitely has it backed up and will probably keep it for about 20+ years in their data centers:D

Just phone NSA/CIA! I'm sure they will be happy to give a copy of your data back to you!

Like Applejuiced said, you can't restore an iPad from an iPhone backup.

Also, you need a more "unique" title.

    Seconded.

Great program. Why someone suggested OP source a phone and restore a backup and blah blah blah is beyond me. Wow what a pain.

    iBackupBot... USE IT!!

    Bingo:D
And also not sure how well a particular program works, with what model iphone backups and firmware version backups is compatible with and operating systems it runs on and also programs like that are not free and many many more other unknowns etc....
These are all 3rd party programs that some are questionable and also unsupported by Apple and not very user friendly.
    Use at your own risk.

thanks for your help guys, I tried this http://www.icopybot.com/itunes-backup-manager.htm. I dont have a itunes back-up on hard drive that i can find. i may have deleted this to save space. and when i logged into the icloud side of things, it only shows my ipad back-up.

I don't understand that, my iphone was backed up to the cloud many times
