The modern world is disgusting and my immune system needs a rest.

They did something like this at MSP, Delta Terminal G and I loved ordering food and paying for it right at my table without waiting for the waiter.

Same at LGA Delta Terminal. It is really quite nice.

It's weird that an airport would do this as I think the majority of fliers have their own tablets/computers.

If you're a frequent flyer, it's pretty much guaranteed that you have a tablet or access to the airports lounge area. .

I see a lot of folks flying that don't have their own tablet. And don't have access to the lounge. And they don't look like paupers. They just perhaps don't see the need in their daily lives. But for a way to order food at a busy restaurant, or pay their tab (if the iPads are in a square or similar stand), check their flights or even put up a video for the kids to watch, yes it could be handy.

And like some others yes I'm waiting for someone to challenge them over why iPads when they could spend half the money on Android tablets.

Then you likely never fly because airplanes are one of the most hideous cesspools for germ exposure. Even with the filtered air etc you still have hacking fliers next to you, jerks that change baby's poop pants on the seat and so on

I travel over 100,000 miles a year and New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport has got to have one of the worst security layout in the world. It's most likely because of how old the airport is, but the United security lines are on a mezzanine that is halfway between check in and baggage claim. Because of its size, it is overcrowded with the result that you have to play "Brownian Motion" to get to the TSA pre-check line which is in an unmarked corner.

Newark is also one of 3 airports in the New York area where you will be arrested for legally declaring a firearm in your checked luggage.

Don't give us iPads - just make sure there is a) working wifi that doesn't cost a fortune, and at least a couple of plug sockets near each group of seats.

When i was stuck at Chicago it took me nearly 15 minutes of walking to find a plug socket!

It's really all about the power outlets.
Not really, it's not there to replace your phone or tablet.

They will mostly be in fixed locations and will have a few features each, for example ordering food or drink at a bar, as a catalog in shops, and as a departure board in various locations.

My local airport (Newcastle, UK) has just announced flight directly to Newark with UA to begin in May, so maybe it's a few extra comforts for us when travelling back.

How often do you expose yourself to ebola? (just curious)

How can you tell if there is something more on the surface than just germs? (hint: you can't)

Still won't make EWR a pleasant place to be.

I'd rather they spend their money upgrading the rest of their fleet. Just came back to PDX from ORD and a 4 hour flight without seat power in first class? Bleh.

I know, "woe is me not having power in first class". My work laptop chews through battery with two OS's running at once.

A restaurant at the Philly tram hub has this as well. Not the full saturation, but it's still a good touch.

Guys I can't say it enough

If you travel often for home and work get yourself a amex platinum card

You have lounge access among other amenities.

D

This allows Lounge access where & what are some other good perks?

Key difference is that the Platinum card is a charge card, not a credit card. So you can't carry a balance. A lot of people don't realize that.

Also I believe the Platinum card only allows access to Delta lounges and partners, you can't get UA lounge access.

Personally, I use a Chase United Club card since UA is my airline of choice. Although that might change in 2016 if I don't keep my status next year.

Says who? You?

And what type of qualifications do you have to make such a statement?

Do you have some link to some authoritative literature?

You have actually spoken with doctors who encourage you to get sick repeatedly?

You are confusing "exposure to germs" as "getting sick". The two are not related to cause and effect. If they were, we'd all be sick and dying 100% of the time.

But since you haven't bothered to look yourself, I Googled that **** for you:

“It may even provide an evolutionary clue about why kids eat dirt,” said Davis. “The pre-existing immune memory of dangerous pathogens our immune systems have never seen before might stem from our constant exposure to ubiquitous, mostly harmless micro-organisms in soil and food and on our skin, our doorknobs, our telephones and our iPod earbuds.”

I like JetBlue & got the JEtblue Amex card but I see no perks with it to be honest besides accumulating points.

Really crappy headline MR. Easy way to get folk to slowly drift away to better sites..

it's about the advertising

They put more screens out there as an "amenity" but really it's just another way to get advertising in front of your face. They know everyone has a smartphone or a tablet of their own, but they're looking for a reason to put up more screens that THEY control so they can sell the ad space.

They're doing this on the NYC Subway as well: putting in digital maps (of pretty dubious value) and guess what they do when they're idle? They put up lots and lots of ads. They could probably much more easily have just expanded free wifi so people could get their own transit info, but they chose this route because it's a profit center.
