When is Apple going to buy Blackmagic? Half kidding, half serious. Can you imagine if Apple baked DaVinci Resolve into Final Cut Pro X? Or vice versa? But back on topic, I think it's amazing that their engineers love Apple so much. You would think Adobe would also have so much love but it sadly does not appear that way.

Does Pixelmator 2.0 have
1) a way to apply edits to all layers within a group? (e.g. Color edits, contrast, exposure, etc.)
2) a way to establish a point of rotation on a given layer? (a feature that was removed several years ago and never brought back)

Else, just reshuffling of what is already there with a few features that I don't care about.

Big name such Adobe and Autodesk are proven lazy, they slacken off too much. Sadly some portion of industry still rely on them.

Was said on a podcast a couple of days ago.
Great we have coded apps for ARM
But there's no 3rd party drivers.
Will there be ever?
So none of your peripherals will work without them writing arm drivers.

Is this true as nothings been said about this yet.

Exactly.

I had a bunch of tangent panels, some Wacom graphics display audio interface and capture cards. Some of my audio interface even still using FireWire, which is I am really doubt will be translated into arm driver.

Once it's too late, the major players will wake up, just as they did for PowerPC.

Adobe drug their feet in the past. They didn't want to port Premiere (Pro) and let it languish until Final Cut Pro was announced, and then, they stomped their feet and called it unfair.

I would say they do, given that Photoshop is still the industry standard. And will be for some time to come yet.
Serious Web Developers don't use Dreamweaver sorry.
I think he's being sarcastic.

Comparing Adobe updating their software to Pixelmator or another smaller developer is a whole different ball game. Currently, Pixelmator has but 1 piece of software going into the new systems, Pixelmator Pro. I think the original version of Pixelmator is not going to be carried forward but I could be mistaken.

Adobe have DOZENS and DOZENS of applications they now need to update, test, and roll out under Apples new chipset. It's not a small undertaking.

I'd rather Adobe take their time to get it right, lest we then see articles, topics, etc all saying "BRAWWW ADOBE RUSHED THESE UPDOOTS AND THEY R ALL BORKED!"

That's what’s exactly happening on 2018~2020 CC release. I had encountered several bugs from acceptable one and another going ballistic one.

Don't get wrong, I am still subscribed full CC because of customer file demands, but in recent years Adobe QC is going downhill. Even the simple things like new document takes several seconds on speedy machine, it's simply unacceptable.

I had Affinity products under my belt, but it just nice for my personal works only. Doing collaboration and received files are mostly in .ai or .psd so it can't be helped. Thankfully at least, 2021 release seems nicer, no oddities so far.

Oh I get it believe me. What's funny is I am old enough to remember when Apple bought Final Cut Pro from Macromedia in 1998 and then Adobe bought Macromedia in 2005 (a very brief history of what went on here! haha) Adobe probably upset that Final Cut was gaining traction and thus gave more attention to the development of Premiere Pro!

I cannot deny I am not encountering issues. I certainly am. Photoshop is so bogged down and bloated now, I seriously think it's time Adobe re-wrote it similar to what Apple did with iTunes.. just not to the extreme of splitting it into multiple applications.

I will say though in recent years, I have completely ditched Adobe when it comes to Video editing. I was a diehard for Premiere for YEARS but in recent releases I just gave up on it and go for DaVinci, HitFilm, or hell, iMovie if it's something really quick.

Apple took over nothing real shake (a high end compositing software at its time) and basically nothing good came out if it.
Don’t make a wish you are going to regret.

TotalSpaces2, TotalFinder, cDock. All broken.

What do you mean "All broken"?

Broken on Big Sur, or the M chips?

Oh, it's broken on M1, maybe because you need to do things with SIP etc.

I wonder if better touch tool is also broken. That would be a bummer. Answer: nope, works!
Totalspaces works on Intel, Big Sur 11.0.1 20B29.

Version 2.9.1

TotalFinder also works.

There are tweaks needed though.

Pixelmator is fantastic - i've got the full Adobe CC suite for free, but I really very rarely use Photoshop over Pixelmator Pro - it's just more lightweight and snappy and opens about 15 times faster. I know app opening speed isn't important but when you open Photoshop it feels like you've had to drag a rock up a flight of stairs and it just leaves me with this feeling im using a big bloated piece of software to mask something off.

Never really thought about how few non-native apps I use, but once there are compatible versions for Chrome, Zoom, and VSCode (and its extensions), I'm pretty much covered. I think Chrome and Zoom will quickly (or may already) have universal versions. I'm actually surprised that I don't use that many non-web apps any more, but unlike the need for the original Rosetta, this seems like it could be a walk in the park

VScode insider's build already has an experimental ARM64 version available.

On the extensions; I think many are distributed as Javascript and therefore CPU independent. The Python extension is probably the most complex extension I use; and if I look in there it is a mix of Windows PE DLL binaries (!) (.Net implementation I presume) and some Mach-0 x86_64 dynamic libraries. So, feels to me that a large number of these extensions will just work on Apple Silicon; but some will need to be ported...
