Not sure if the article on the ref page of the latest issue is correct???

I tried to gt Universal control working and i found out that unless my Mac OSX system is an M1 or newer, Universal Control will NOT work.

Thanks

I don't no what "ref Issue 377" is supposed to be, but you definitely don't need an M1 Mac for Universal Control.

Issue 377 relates to the current issue of Mac Format apologies forgot to add that critical part of the information.(Brain fade!!!)

I have 12.3.1on my MAC OSX system and an iPad Air 4th gen and i cannot get Universal Control to even appear as an Option on the OSX system.

And the iPad is at 15.4

thx

John

What Mac do you have? And I guess, you're logged in with the same Apple ID on both devices and have Blutooth and Wifi enabled?

Universal Control is supported on many Macs that are not M1/Apple Silicon computers.
Apple has a document which lists the supported computers: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212757

Hand-off also enabled on your iPad? And where did you look for Universal Control on your Mac?

,

Yes, Handoff is enabled on iPad... All the documentation I have seen clearly suggests going to Sys Prefs> Displays.

Where I should find Universal Control dialogue....... but I see no reference to Universal Control.

Thanks

It should be under “Advanced” or something similar if you see that option.

Apologies did not see the other question:-

There is no mention of "Advanced" anywhere I can find, the following screenshot of all I get when I select Displays...

It’s not working because the 2014 mini is not supported.

Only the 2018 and newer minis support Universal Control.

Don’t forget “Cursor and keyboard“ is still labeled “Beta” even in latest iPadOS 15.4.1.

An interesting point is that it is working (sort of) on my 2012 MacBook Pro9,2. Only problem is that it works IF iPad is directly in front of MacBook. If I move it to the side (where it is more convenient) it works for maybe 1 minute, then stops working until I move it back in front of MacBook.

Hello,
Thanks for the info on the 2018 Mac Mini…disappointing…but not really surprising considering everything else going on with the Mini

Thanks

[EDIT]

Thought universal control wasn't working but turns out my computers were too far away from one another... brought them within 3 ft and worked just fine...
