Universal Doc with iPhone4s?

I just purchased the iPhone4s inserts for my older universal doc. Music plays through my speakers just fine, but the remote isn't working? I thought it was the battery so I replaced it. Still nothing. Tried to pair (and unpair) it with no luck. Works fine on my MacbookPro, so I know the remote is working. Is there an iSO5 setting that needs to be checked or something?
