Hi,
This morning I noticed this app on my phone. I can't delete it.
I think it appeared after trying to download some apps this morning but the app store seemed to be down for a while.

I have tried with no luck:

1. logging out and then back in to the app store
2. Rebooting phone
3. looking in purchased section on phone to see if there is an app that isn't on the phone but says it is.
4. Turning phone off and on.
5. Downloading other apps.

Any other suggestions to get rid of this?

Are you on wifi? You may see something like that if you try and download an app larger than the app store allows on cellular.

No difference with being on wifi or cellular.

I try tapping on the x to delete the app but nothing happens.
It says that it will delete " " and all it's data.

So it thinks the name is " ".

Sometimes I don't even get the x to delete it, it just wiggles.

Same happened to me this morning. Has no name and can't delete as well.

I'm not at home to connect my phone to my computer. If you are able to do this can you connect your phone, click on the phone in itunes, then see if that app has a name there.

Didn't see anything when I plugged the phone in. seems like the computer and iTunes doesn't even see it.

Yeah that's exactly what happened. Tried to download two apps and neither worked so I just left it. Then that showed up at some point and I can't get rid of it just like you.

Now under my icon it says nothing. Used to say waiting. Weird.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Did you try syncing the phone?

With iTunes? Yes I did. Nothing happened, just transferred other apps to my PC but still didn't bring anything over related to this ghost one.

Had an app that got stuck like that after updating to iOS 8.0. Nothing I tried would get it to go away. Ultimately just ended up restoring to the last backup and that basically got rid of it.

Have you had any apps that you updated since you noticed the unknown app?
Have you installed any new apps since noticing the unknown app?

I don't know about any updating but have installed a couple apps since it happened, one of them being the app I couldn't download this morning.

me to.
Have you tried to reset all settings? I haven't done that one.

Not yet. Been trying to avoid resetting so I don't have to go through tweaking everything again or pulling a backup but I may have to do that.

I saw this on another thread that someone had posted in the past. I don't have a way of trying this now with iExplorer.....

I found a way to fix it but its very annoying because you have to use this method for each update.

1. You need to SSH into your phone and delete the /var/mobile/Media/Downloads folder
2. You can do this if you are jailbroken with iFile or unjailbroken with iExplorer

Delete the folder shown above, reboot, install update. Rinse and Repeat until you are done updating.

Does anyone know of a way to use a computer app such as iFunbox to look on the iphone and see what the app is, or what is should be called.

I looked on iFunbox but can't figure out where to look.

I would try to reset all setting but apparently there is a bug where it deletes all of your iCloud documents when you do that.
