Unlike 1st-gen rMBP, riMac is smooth

For those of you who are curious about the frame rate, here is my frame rate testing result, using Quartz debugger:

2012 rMBP only has ~25fps: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6023/the-nextgen-macbook-pro-with-retina-display-review/8

So at least you do not need to worry about sluggish experience on iMac.

BTW, my machine is 4GHz i7 + M295X.

wow, interesting. Maybe it was a software bug and now is fixed.

In 2 years Apple improved this machine performance a lot a long with new OS'es every year... But this was supposed to be already "fixed" since it was released..

Most of slowdowns on the 1st gen rMBP was due to mountain lion not using gpu acceleration for many things like scrolling. Mavericks fixed most of these issues....
