Hello, one thing I liked about Mac OS was that there was no unexpected opening of new browser windows pointing to strange websites that I have never visited nor interested in their contents. However, recently I keep having this problem. What is going on? Is there a way to stop this?

Thanks. I ran it and it only quarantined org.niltsh.MplayerX.plist.

The issue I mentioned happened often when I tried to play foreign dramas with English subtitle. I clicked on the triangular play symbol, some browsers were opened playing unrelated things, etc.

These other windows will be linked to the site you visited via advertising program code. If you install an AdBlock extension in your browser it should prevent the unwanted popup windows from opening.

That helps but there's nothing that can get rid of all of the pesky popups.

The Adblock extension I have installed in my Chrome browser stops them popping, it is called
uBlock Origin
1.7.2 -- try it.
