“First, they came for the headphone jack, and I fought back—well, sort of...
I ranted online, swore I'd never buy an iPhone again…
Then I bought the new iPhone.

Then they came for USB-C… and, well, that was kinda that.
There were no other ports left.

So… I bought the new iPhone. Still better than searching for Lightning cable, I guess.”

Me, in a few years, probably.

I'm still holding on to a 13 Pro. I still like my now vestigial SIM slot, but I would like USB-C. I guess I better get the next phone will it still has ports before the model a few years from now just collapses in on itself entirely like a black hole for the ultimate minimal device.

maybe the lightness of the air will make magsafe mounts actually practical. I hate the fact that unless I unplug the magsafe holder i can't have the holder without charging. It kind of ironic that to make it work properly i need to unplug it rather than just not have magsafe and plug it in. I don't want my phone permanently charging when it's e.g. on a holder in my car, or on my desk.

This will give the Air another edge over the 16e.

120 hz
faster processor
Better camera???
MagSafe

That’s about $ 20 more for Apple compared the materials used for the iPhone 16e

So expect the selling price starting around $ 999

For the price it better have it. A more capable camera as well, maybe with a variable aperture which could trickle down to the 18 Pro next year?

Just more artificial differentiation BS. I guess MagSafe costs enough that it would eat into Tim’s precious iPhone hardware margins?

In a post yesterday, the account said all of the iPhone 17 dummy models shared by Sonny Dickson over the weekend are accurate.

Of course the dummy models are accurate yet the folks on Appleinsider put this rumor at BS level ( which they probably believe nowadays but haven’t apologized to Majin Buu) just because the same dummy models back then were leaked by majin buu who has a decent record.

?? iOS will manage the charging just fine. IMO MagSafe rocks - - I have not plugged in an iPhone for years now. No more dealing with cotton pocket lint in ports.

Do not expect more advanced features in a lower end [lower than the iPhone Pros anyway] phone that all rumors suggest has less camera capability, not more. Not impossible, but not likely.

Agree completely. Most of the world uses cases - not all, but most. So even those with MagSafe in their phones still rely on their MagSafe case to hold and charge. So the only real issue is slower charging. That omission was blown way out of proportion. Honestly, it makes a case for MagSafe being a case-only thing going forward. But there is that small percentage that like to go caseless!
I wonder what the size of "that small percentage that like to go caseless" is? I am one who has used/abused iPhone Pros caseless for years now, and I can testify that uncased iPhone Pros can take substantial abuse very well. It amazes me that adults actually put those (usually tacky) cases on their beautifully designed iPhones.

Definitely expecting the new slim iPhone to have this as it is not going to be an entry level iPhone. Also considering the fact that Apple wants to have a port-less iPhone in the future and the Air/slim iPhone may be a step in that direction, the new iPhone should definitely support MagSafe.

That was definitely an anecdotal comment. But I think one can walk around the world and seen that the percentage of caseless users is much lower than those with a case.

I would like to go caseless, but I value the resale value too much, so I don't like to get even the smallest nick or scratch on my phones if I can avoid it as it helps me sell them easier at a later date to help offset the cost of a new phone. If I could get myself out of that cycle, I'd probably prefer going caseless.

an iphone without a case it like trying to hold a slippery salmon that's wriggling about determined to escape
