unlimited data plan for iphone 2g

Ok so I bought an iphone 2g on ebay. A couple of questions. Read the other thread about the unsuccessful attempts.

1. From the other thread I gather when I 1st connect to itunes, I have to reset the phone as 'new', correct.

2. Should I not put the sim in til after I reset it or do I reset it with the new sim card in the phone.

Anything else I should know.

Alll you need is a brand new inactivated SIM card. Go to your local AT&T for one. If thy ask, just explain your situation.

So are you saying I DO NOT have to reset the phone??

As far as I know you do need to restore the phone. That's what I did and what everyone else has said. Restore the phone then put the sim in. If you put it in before it may activate on it's own.
