Ive got an iPhone 3G with firmware 2.3.....Is there any way to jailbreak /unlock it?

You should probably update the 3G to official Apple 3.0 firmware, then use Pwnage Tool (Mac only) to get to 3.1.2 and keep 4.26.xx baseband, Ultrasn0w to unlock.

Do not update to 3.1.3 or you probably cannot unlock.
