The latest beta does not seem to have a setting for Unlock with Apple Watch. I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Perhaps someone can point out my obvious mistake and point in the right direction?

Thanks.

Thanks. On Mac Studio it's under Settings-->Login Password.
I've been looking in Privacy & Security and General as before. Ugh.

Ah, I was on my MBP. I guess it makes sense to move it there, but I hope they add 'Watch' to the search field.

Upon upgrading to watchOS 9.0, my Apple Watch Series 7 has not unlocked my MBP running macOS 13 Ventura Beta 8. The laptop says that it is unlocking with the Apple Watch, but it just has a spinning icon for about 15 seconds, then times-out and asked for either my password or fingerprint.

Thanks for the suggestions ... but I have already tried rebooting the MBP, iPhone, and Watch, but this didn't help.

Interestingly, for the first time and just once the Watch did successfully unlock the MBP -- I hadn't changed anything, it just worked once but then went back to not working and timing out. I was surprised when it worked...

Hi steveing64,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't use and have never used the iCloud Keychain, so this solution is not pertinent to my problem. I'm now on Beta 10, and with each new Beta the unlocking with the Apple Watch appears to be working more often. It's not yet to 100% of the time, which is particularly confusing since why does it work sometimes but not all times? In any case, I appreciate the suggestion.

In my case, I get a message that the laptop is unlocking with the Apple Watch, but it then times out after about 15 seconds and asks for my password or fingerprint. Since I don't use the iCloud Keychain, this has nothing to do with my Internet connection.

Solouki

EDIT: After rebooting the WatchPhone, iPhone, and MBP once again, I've had around 10 Watch unlocks in a row under Beta 10. Yeah!

From lots of wasted time I can advise that despite all the fixes offered, unlocking and password operation in general with Apple Watch on a M1 based Mac running MacOS Ventura is extremely flaky. You can get it to work for a short time by resetting some or all of your devices and deleting preference files as suggested by many comments here and elsewhere but then it breaks again. The surefire solution is to abandon Ventura and go back to Monterey where unlocking works perfectly. It's not easy regressing but it's worth it! For me moving back to Monterey also solved problems with crappy bluetooth operation impacting AirPods and the Magic Mouse, and the fact that Quickbooks desktop is extremely buggy and very prone to crashing when run on Ventura but rock solid on Monterey. IMHO Ventura should be avoided for now.

For what it is worth. - I have Apple Watch 6 running WatchOS 9.3.1, I have an M1 iMac running Ventura 13.2.1. I have a 2018 Intel MacBook Pro also on Ventura 13.2.1. And Iphone 13 Pro on IOS 16.3.1.

Apple Watch can unlock all those devices without any issue at all. Just like on Monterey. I have had no issues at all. I was late to upgrade to both IOS and Ventura and WatchOS so if there were any "early issues" I hava avoided those. I have never used any Beta version of any of the operating systems, so I don't "carry over" any bad stuff from that.

any one else still having issues? I used to be able to and now I'm updated to the latest version and under login password the only option there says "A login password has been set for this user." and then the option to change but no options for unlock with apple watch anymore. so annoying.

Yes, I am Apple Watch doesn't work for me on Apple Watch Ultra and Ventura. All latest software as of this date. Ventura 13.2.1 and watchOS 9.3.1.

When I switch on Apple Watch to unlock, I then input my system password. It then tries to sync with my Apple Watch. Eventually just get a message that says unable to communicate with my watch. Make sure watch is unlocked, on wrist and powered on. Those things are all done. Plus

Mac, Watch and phone are connected to the same wifi network
Wifi and bluetooth are switched on with all devices
Find My is on

Tried signing out of iCloud on Mac. Hasn't made any difference. Guess this will iron itself out at some point...

Also the SOLVED in the post header is not helpful - there is no solution in this thread!

Updated to Ventura 13.3 yesterday on my M2 Mac Mini and now my unlock with apple watch refuses to turn on. Also updated my Apple Watch and iPhone to the latest releases as well.

I've restarted my iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac a dozen times. Verified that all of them are on the same Wifi network. I even went through keychain access and wiped out the saved entries for auto unlock but nothing has worked.

Great quality control apple...

Same here. No way to get it to work again.
