    Hi all,

am new to this iphone thing. I just bought an unlocked iphone 2G version. Firmware shows 2.2.1 which is the latest version. Was just wondering if I were to upgrade the firmware the next time when apple releases an updated, would it lock my phone? So do I have to unlock it again when I update the software? Is there a version that does not lock the phone up? Or is 2.2.1 safe for future upgrades?

This would greatly affect what apps I purchase as I do not want to lose everything inside.

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks.

Therefore, for the iPhone 2G, it is safe to assume that when/if the next firmware comes out, you would only need to run an updated version of QuicPwn to re-jailbreak/re-unlock your iPhone.

Just keep an eye on that web site when a new firmware does come out.

QuickPwn is on Cyndia? Or do I need another program with that? Sorry but am totally new to the iphone and am still trying to figure out how to use it and surfing the sites to find out more.

Thanks once again. But will the same version of Quickpwn work for the later upgrades? It seems that quickpwn also has different version which is what I am afraid of.

I have same spec - did it work for you?

Using Pwnage I succesfully unlocked a 2g on 2.1 and recently smashed the screen ! After paying Apple some cash for repair - a brand new replacement turned up (on 2.2.1).

Following instructions to the letter on os x 10.5.6 macbook; Quickpwn hangs while Pwnage exits with a 21 error ... bah!

I'm going to try it on a different mac.
