Happened to the 6S Plus I traded back in as part of the iPhone Upgrade Program. I was the only owner but it showed it was locked to k*********@icloud.com which is not my address.

Apple removed the lock in store, took the phone back and all was well.
I went through that activation lock when I traded in my 6S Plus under the AUP for 7 Plus. Took Apple Store over an hour to clear the lock.

Funny enough, when I first setup my iPhone 7 Plus, on 19th Sep, it started off with my wife's Apple ID.
At the time, I simply found that weird, but, since I knew her password, I merely carried on.

A serious weird issue here...

Hey gang,

Just wanted to give a quick update. I'm back from vacation and have officially opened a ticket with Apple. They gave me a call, I sent along my receipt and now I wait. The support rep said I should hear back within 3-5 business days. Here's an interesting twist - they send the support ticket information to my correct Apple ID account (a gmail account). When I try to access the ticket, it tells me that the email address is wrong and to use the account I used to set up the ticket.......

At any rate, I'll give them the 3-5 business days before I call back.

We shall see what happens!

welcome to the club all! 14-15 page thread going on in regards to this same issue. my phone is now currently locked for the 4th time as Apple reps try to figure out what's going on. I had asked for a replacement about 2 lock scenarios ago BUT they told me that when a replacement is issued it takes on the "activation profile" (I think that's what they called it) of the phone it is replacing and I could have the same issue. trying to get my 6s+ sold to offset some of the 7+ cost.

I would insist on Apple replacing the phone. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I do not believe anyone who got a replacement phone from Apple experienced the same issues.

the phone has since been replaced by Apple. nobody from Apple has been able to tell me why this happened, but after 3 weeks of battling for answer I don't have any more time to put off selling this device.
