Carrier Unlocked iPhone after one year under two year contract with AT&T

While waiting for my preordered 6S Plus to arrive, I noticed AT&T updated the dates of my contract, so I requested an unlock on my 6 Plus. They approved, I unlocked the 6 Plus, and cancelled the preorder. My contract is now has one year left as it was originally and I have an unlocked phone.

I'm on an unlimited plan and did an early upgrade with a lower discount before cancelling it.
